Northern United Rugby League club have confirmed a key signing for the 2024 NRRRL season.
The Dirawongs have announced that veteran NRL halfback Tyrone Roberts has joined Northern United after his stint with the Burleigh Bears in the QLD Cup last season.
The 32-year-old, with a career spanning ten seasons in the NRL playing for the Newcastle Knights, Gold Coast Titans, and Brisbane Broncos, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the club.
Roberts also had a successful stint with Warrington in the UK and guided the Burleigh Bears to the QLD Cup Grand Final in the previous season.
Northern United views Roberts as a valuable addition to their club, providing experience and leadership on and off the field.
Roberts also brings plenty of representative experience with him to the club, having represented NSW Country and the NRL Indigenous All Stars in recent years.
The Dirawongs have been able to secure the majority of players who led them to finals football in 2023, for the 2024 season.
Backrower Theo Hippi and fullback Hezekiah McKenzie have recently been named in the 2024 Northern Rivers Titans Rep Squad for the Country Championships.
The club will field teams in the Women's Tackle, U/18's, Reserve Grade and First Grade NRRRL Competitions in 2024.
Northern United train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Clifford Park, Goonellabah.
