According to Dunoon RFS, crews from Dunoon, The Channon and Boat Harbour Rural Fire Brigades were dispatched around 6.30am to respond to the incident.
The fire has led to the closure of Keerrong Road at the bridge, with Lismore City Council confirming the structure is now undergoing a Level 3 structural assessment to determine its condition and safety. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

A Council spokesperson said the bridge will remain closed while assessments are carried out, and residents are asked to use alternative routes in the meantime. An update on how long the closure is expected to last will be provided once the assessment is complete.
The incident is a timely reminder for locals travelling rural roads to stay alert and patient as emergency services and Council crews work to ensure the safety of the community.
