Kali Ainsworth is training to be part of the Far North Coast Under 14 boys' side for the NSW Country Championships.
Kali, 13, who trains three times a week at Coomera Crushers Rugby Union Club on the Gold Coast, plays for the Renegades 32 Girls Rugby 7s and is heading to Orlando, Florida, to play in a tournament at Easter next year.
"To say Kali is pretty excited is an understatement. She was captain of the Casino Bulls Boys Under 13s and her dream is to play at the Olympics," said her mother Bec Ainsworth.
Kali Ainsworth was captain of the Casino Bulls Under 14 boys' side last season.
"She plays at Number Eight and has been playing rugby union for the past two years and is absolutely loving it. She got the bug off her brothers Will and Tom, who also play for Casino and played for Far North Coast, and it has just taken off."
Kali's parents Jason and Bec held a raffle to raise funds for the the trip to Florida.
"We are trying to raise as much as we can. She will go to Disney World as part of team bonding. It is a fantastic opportunity," said Kali's mum.
"In the meantime she is training hard for the FNC Boys Under 14s to play in the NSW Country Championships."
2020 is the final year Kali, a student at St Mary's Catholic College, Casino, is allowed to be in a boys' side.
