A reported stolen car failed to stop after being spotted on Diadem Street, Lismore, and was pursued by police late last night.
Richmond Police District Highway Patrol will allege that at 11:15pm they saw a stolen car driving along Diadem Street. It failed to stop and a pursuit commenced.
"The stolen car drove at a speed well over the speed limit, and eventually stopped on Invercauld Road. As police approached the vehicle, the juvenile driver released the handbrake. Police had to lean into the car and engage the handbrake before it hit the highway patrol car," Richmond Police District said on its Facebook page.
"Police located a knife and drug paraphernalia in the car, and the driver was taken to hospital for a blood test. He was then charged with Take and Drive Conveyance, Police Pursuit, Unlicensed Driver and Custody of a Knife. He was released on conditional bail and will appear at Lismore Children's Court in October.
