Trinity Lismore Swimming Club member Ella Jones has achieved a long planned goal this week.
Ella was this week named in the Australian Para Swimming Team to compete at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK.
She will compete in the S8 100 Backstroke and the SB6 100m Breaststroke on the 31 July and 1 August as a part of the 27 member team.
Coaches Simon and Hannah Watkins were excited for their athlete, "The selection is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication from Ella"
"Ella has not had the greatest preparation due to the recent floods as we had to relocate our training squad from Trinity, so we are even more proud of Ella for this achievement."
Jones competed at the Para World Championships in 2019 and in December 2020 approached Trinity Swim Coach Simon Watkins with a question, “If I move up to Lismore will you coach me to make another Para Team?”
Ella has quickly become an integral part of the squad and her commitment to the cause has finally paid off.
The Trinity Lismore Swimming Club has been able to continue their training with the assistance of the Alstonville Pool and also have Sophie Mayes and Niquola White contesting the Australian Swimming Championships in Adelaide later this month.
