It's election day! Voting and the latest polls

Saturday, 21 May 2022 is finally here and voting will be open between 8am and 6pm. The voting booth venue list is below.

The Australian Electoral Commission is predicting nearly 50% of voting has already occurred if previous data is anything to go by with 40% achieved in the 2019 Federal Election.

If you are one of the 'on the day' voters, you might be hard-pressed to find a dry spell to vote as the BOM is forecasting between 15 and 25mm today with a 100% chance of rain.

Who will win?

The seat of Page looks set to be retained by the National Party's Kevin Hogan with the ABC calling Page 'Safe National'

Kevin Hogan needs a swing of 9.5% against him to lose the seat.

Page has an interesting history since the seat was created in 1984. It has been won 9 times by the National Party and 4 times by Labor. The last Labor win was in 2010 when Janelle Saffin was re-elected after her 2007 victory.

Interestingly, the seat of Page has been a 'bellwether' seat since 1990, meaning the seat has been won by the party that has formed government. This may be put to the test today.

The ABC is showing a Labor lead with 53.6% to Liberal/National Party 46.4% two-party-preferred through a model that averages poll results from five pollsters conducting national polls. This has tightened recently but not by much.

A recent UComm poll suggested the race for Page was tightening, but as we know from the last Federal Election polls can get the result very wrong. Other experts say to follow the money so the Lismore App checked out the latest betting for Page on Sportsbet where Kevin Hogan (at the time of writing) was $1.25 to win the seat of Page with Independent Hanabeth Luke at $6.00 and Labor's Patrick Deegan on $7.00. There is a big gap to The Greens Kashmir Miller at $51.00 next in line.

All will become clear later tonight. The Lismore App will have updates on its Facebook Page throughout the night.

Good luck to all 10 candidates.
