It went down to the wire in local LJ Hooker League matches

It was a tough day out for Lismore cricket teams in Round 12 of the LJ Hooker League competition on Saturday.

Both LIsmore sides had matches that went down to the wire and were decided by just 1 wicket.

At Oakes Oval, Goonellabah Workers Sports won the toss and elected to bat against Pottsville.

Unfortunately for the home side, wickets tumbled at a constant rate, with Goonellabah struggling at 8/58 in the 22nd over.

Reece Gregor joined Damien Santin at the crease and the pair managed to add critical runs to the total.

Damien Santin top scored with 50, and Reece Gregor finished with 20 not out in a 76 run ninth wicket partnership.

It pushed the total to 134 when Santin was dismissed, with Goonellabah finishing with 149.

In reply, Brady Toniello struck early and had Pottsville in trouble before the middle order settled to be 5/109.

Toniello then started his second stint with two wickets to see the match in the balance at 7/117.

However, Pottsville managed to pass the total, 9 wickets down in the 38th over.

Toniello was the best of the bowlers with figures of 5/33 off 7 overs.

Marist Brothers travelled to Bilambil to take on Terranora Lakes, winning the toss and electing to bat in a must-win game.

Pat Martin started the innings off well with a quickfire 18, before several wickets fell and the middle order needed to consolidate.

Wicketkeeper Joe Parsons top scored with 32, and Luke Collings (25) and Jeremy Perkins (24) added vital runs late to see Brothers bowled out in the 37th over for 150.

Harry Gillett struck early, taking three wickets to have his side on top at 4/40, before the Terranora middle order settled.

As the home side edged closer to the Brothers' total, Tom Molloy took two late wickets in three balls to have the match on a knife-edge at 9/148.

Terranora managed to hit the winning runs and take the points.

Gillett was the best of the bowlers with 3/29 off 8 overs and Molloy ended the match with 3/34.
