With the mid-season cricket break upon us, it is a good time to review the competitions for 2025 and what could be in store for 2026.
LJ Hooker League resumes on Saturday, 17 January, with a crucial match for Marist Brothers up against Cudgen at Oakes Oval.
Brothers have dropped to sixth on the ladder but are just one win outside of the top four.
A win against the third-placed Hornets will be a big boost to start the second half of the season.
Goonellabah Workers Sports will travel to Hill Park to take on Alstonville in a bid to stay in the top two.
Goonellabah (49) sits in second position, six points shy of top spot, which is held by Tweed Banora Colts (55), after a last start loss to Tintenbar East Ballina.
A win against Alstonville will kick off the bid for top spot in 2026 in the right fashion.
Statistically, Alstonville's Kyle Yager leads the run scoring with 418 at an average of 46, from Tweed Banora's Thomas Byrnes on 360 at an average of 120.
Marist Brothers star Cooper Williams sits in third with 335 at 56, and Goonellabah's big-hitting Jack Cooper is in fifth with 303 at 51.
Casino's Thomas Relph leads the wicket taking with 20 wickets at an average of 11.15, from Tweed's Kade Wood with 18.
Alec Watson is the best of the locals, leading Goonellabah's attack with 16 wickets at 13.88.
Marist Brothers have shared the wickets around, with youngster Blake Collings taking 10 wickets at 13.9, leading the charge, from Andrew Munroe with 9 and Tom Molloy and Brendan Mitchell with 8 wickets.
Goonellabah's Cooper (12), Nathan Bezrouchko (11) and Marist Brothers Joe Parsons (11) are all in the top five fielders in the competition.
As mentioned earlier, the competition resumes on 17 January, with the Grand Final set for Saturday 21 March.
