An investigation is underway after the body of a man was located, and a man was found seriously injured near Lismore this morning.

About 2.50am (Friday, 7 November 2025), a 31-year-old man was taken to Lismore Base Hospital suffering serious head injuries.

He was later airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

About 6.20am, emergency services were called to Fischer Street, Goonellabah, following reports a body had been located.

Officers established a crime scene after finding the body of a 25-year-old man on a nearby walking track.

Initial inquiries indicate the men might have been involved in a brawl in Clifford Park near Cassia Crescent early this morning.

The investigation is being led by officers attached to Richmond Police District, assisted by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
