An investigation is underway after the body of a man was found on the road near Billinudgel.
About 7.15pm today (Sunday, 10 August 2025), emergency services were called to the M1 Pacific Motorway, near Billinudgel, following reports of multiple cars crashing into an unoccupied motorcycle.
On arrival, officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District were told three cars had crashed into the motorcycle before a member of the public had located a body of the alleged male rider nearby.
The body is yet to be formally identified.
Two drivers were taken to Byron Bay hospital for a mandatory testing.
Another driver was taken to Tweed Valley Hospital for a mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established, and officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit were called to commence an investigation into the incident.
All vehicles were seized to be forensically examined.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
