Lismore still in the clear from new Covid cases

Five days into the lifting of the lockdown, and Lismore is still in the clear when it comes to Covid cases.

With no locally acquired cases in the past 24 hours reported in our health district – and with no concerning Covid fragments in the sewage, the Lismore Local Government Area can keep enjoying their newfound freedoms – for now.

Looking at the bigger picture across NSW, NSW recorded 1,259 new locally acquired cases of Covid the 24 hours to 8pm last night – and there were 12 deaths in people aged in their 30s to their 90s.

Across regional NSW, Bathurst, Dubbo and broken Hill were amongst areas reporting new cases -as did the Central Coast, Southern NSW and the Hunter region.

NSW Health's ongoing sewage surveillance program also detected fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 at Bermagui sewage treatment plant in Southern NSW LHD, Glen Innes sewage treatment plant in Hunter New England LHD, Wauchope sewage treatment plant in Mid North Coast LHD and Trangie sewage treatment plant in Western NSW LHD.

No recent cases have been identified in these areas, so everyone is urged to monitor for the onset of symptoms, and if they appear, to immediately be tested and isolate until a negative result is received.
