Lachlan selected by Softball NSW for Under 14 Final Selection CampRous Hotel Rangers softballer Lachlan O'Sullivan is in the NSW Under 14 Final Selection Camp next week.

Lachlan O'Sullivan, who plays for Rous Hotel Softball's Rangers in the Far North Coast Softball Association, has been selected by Softball NSW for the NSW Under 14 Final Selection Camp next week.

It is his first selection by Softball NSW. The final selection camp will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday at Blacktown International Sportspark in Sydney.

Lachlan, who attends St John's College,Woodlawn, was selected following his performance at the recent Under 14 State Championships held at Southern Districts Softball Association on December 12 and 13. Lachlan was invited to play for Newcastle in the championships.

"He was pretty excited to be named in the NSW camp," said his mum Aurora. "We believe it has elements of both physical skills as well as theory lessons around diet and health. He is hoping to improve his skills and knowledge in all these areas which should help him be a better athlete. He might also make some new friends."

Despite his youth, Lachlan stands out in the Far North Coast Softball Association.

"He is the youngest on the team but the ladies really look after him and he loves playing with them," said his mum.

Lachlan prefers to play centre field, second base and short stop but is happy to play wherever he is told.

He was part of the Far North Coast Baseball's Little League team that was awarded the Sportsman Award after finishing seventh at Baseball Australia's Little League Championships held at Albert Park Baseball Complex, Lismore, in June 2019.

His ability was evident as he made the Polding team for PSSA in 2018 and 2019.
