Bentley's small bridge gets a big upgradeKevin Hogan and community members at Bungabbee Road bridge.

A small single-lane timber bridge at Bungabbee Road, Bentley is about to get a big upgrade, with $300,000 in government funding.

Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan has announced $300,000 to fix the bridge, saying it was "an important access route for local farming families".

Due to the extremely poor condition of the single-lane timber bridge, a load limit of 2 tonnes has been placed on the bridge. Mr Hogan said this funding will raise the level of bridge, improving its flood immunity, sightline, and alignment.

“It is a terrific outcome for our community," he said.

“The load limit has been detrimental to the families along this road as they have had no heavy vehicle access.”

“Our communities have struggled through bushfires, drought and now COVID-19, these projects are important to get our local economy going again.”

“This funding is designed to support councils deliver priority infrastructure projects to support jobs and help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

This funding has been allocated through the Round 5 of the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program.

Out of the 300,000 to fix the bridge, Lismore City Council and Richmond Valley Council are putting in $150,000 each.
