Georgica gets a new, more flood-resilient bridge

Mountain Top Road at Georgica now boasts a new, more flood resilient concrete bridge.

The bridge works, recently completed by Lismore City Council, included the installation of a temporary sidetrack, removal of the existing twin 3000mm galvanised culvert, installation of 6 x 600mm bored concrete piers, concrete abutments and bridge deck and, finally the removal of the temporary side track.

A Council spokesperson said Council staff used the relatively new InQuik bridge system to construct the 13-metre single span bridge.

"The InQuik bridge system incorporates prefabricated, permanent formwork and steel reinforcing which significantly reduces construction time," the spokesperson said.

"The new bridge provides a wider road formation and is a more flood-resilient structure."
