The region's finest teenage cricketers will compete for North Coast in the Under 18s Northern NSW Pathway Carnival in Tamworth over the long weekend.

North Coast has selected two evenly matched sides for the Invitational Challenge against Central North Zone.

Paul McLean, the former Sydney First Grade batsman and Australian Under 17 opener, is coach of the North Coast Zone Green side, which features Sam McLean and Brady Toniello, who play for Lismore Workers in the Far North Coast Cricket Council competitions.

"So keen to rip in at Tamworth. I’ve been feeling good in the nets and at the North Coast Academy lately," said Toniello.

'I have now got a job with Joel Jensen Construction which i’m loving as he’s the best boss I could ask for. Leaving for Tamworth tomorrow after work, then play Saturday, Sunday and Monday."

Zac Ewing, another Lismore Workers Cricket Club player, has been selected for North Coast Zone Gold.

Charlie Mitchell, who graduated from St John's College, Woodlawn, last month, has had to pull out with a hamstring strain.

"Yeah pretty disappointed about it. I’m going down to watch and help out a bit," said Mitchell.

Zac Ewing who plays for Lismore Workers Cricket Club.

The two sides will face two teams from neighbours Central North Zone in T20 and 50 over one-day matches against each other.

"This is a great opportunity for the players to showcase their skills in preparation for NCZ COLTS selection later in the year," said Rob Pye.
