Tonight's Lismore Speedway, all matches in the final round of Far North Coast Cricket Council's T20 L J Hooker competition and all grades of the Northern Rivers Cricket League have been cancelled due to the beautiful rain and one sport is claiming credit.

"Glorious Rain is falling over the Northern Rivers, how exciting.!!!!! Lismore Speedway has broken the drought. As much as we love racing, in this particular case, it's great to see the much needed – and prayed for – rain after the worst summer of bushfires on record! Rain has fallen in so many drought-stricken areas," Lismore Speedway said on Facebook.

"The Northern Rivers Junior Sedan Championship, which was scheduled for January 18, will now be held on February 15 while tonight's demolition derby also will be decided on February 15. A decision on a rescheduled date for the NSW Modlite title has yet to be made,

"See you all trackside on the 25th and 26th for our two day Australia Day events.":

Lismore Speedway also had to call off its meeting last Saturday after the first rain fell for ages last Saturday evening, so it has some evidence of being the drought breaker.

The cancellation of the final round of the T20 Hooker League means that Pottsville, Casino RSM Cavaliers, reneigning holders Cudgen and Lennox Head go into the semi-finals next Saturday, weather permitting.

Far North Coast Softball also had fun with the rain.
