The Goonellabah Hornets have started their 2023 Football Far North Coast Men's Premier League season with a win.

The Hornets hosted Mullumbimby Brunswick Valley at Weston Park on Saturday and came away with a convincing win.

Harry Hampson scored three goals in an impressive display for the home side in the 4-2 victory.

Oliver Ison was the other goal scorer, with Ziggy Whetstone scoring a double for MBVFC.

The win impressed new coach group of Paul Foster, Clint Willoughby and Paul Hampson.

In other Men's Premier League matches, Bangalow had a big win over Alstonville 6-1 and Lennox Head overcame Maclean 3-1.

Richmond Rovers defeated Byron Bay in a strong showing to open the season.

In Women's Premier League, Alstonville continued their strong form from the 2022 season with a 5-1 win over Bangalow and Lennox Head dominated Maclean 9-0.
