Hornets looking to go back to back

The Goonellabah Hornets will look to go back-to-back when they take on Anzac Day Cup Champions, Mullumbimby Brunswick Valley on Sunday.

Goonellabah are coming off a confident 4-1 win over Maclean last weekend, with a big turnaround from a heavy loss to Byron Bay in Round 2.

Hornets coach Paul Foster was pleased with the solid improvement in his side and will look forward to the next challenge against the form pre-season team.

The away match will kick off at 2:30pm on Sunday, weather permitting as rain continues to fall across the Northern Rivers.

In other local Men's Premier League matches across the weekend, South Lismore was to play host to Alstonville on Friday night, however this match was postponed due to the state of the fields.

Richmond Rovers will travel south to Wherrett Park in Maclean to play the Maclean Bobcats at 3:00pm on Saturday.

In other matches, Byron Bay will host Lennox Head and Ballina was to travel to Bangalow to take on the Bluedogs on Saturday afternoon, but this match has also been postponed.

In a mid-week fixture, Rovers will host Byron Bay on Tuesday night in East Lismore, starting at 6:30pm.

At the time of writing, two Men's Championship League matches had also been postponed due to the wet weather.

In local Women's Premier League matches on Sunday, South Lismore was to host Lennox Head (posponed) and Richmond Rovers will travel to Shores United, with the match starting at 2:30pm.
