Help raise money for cancer today and have a cuppa

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is a community event that raises vital funds to make a big difference for those impacted by cancer. This year May and June have been the months where you can host a Morning Tea and receive donations that are given to the Cancer Council.

The statistics are shocking, 1 in 2 Australians are diagnosed with cancer before they are 85. The only way to reduce those numbers is through cancer research. Investment in research has helped increase cancer survival rates from 49% in the 1980s to 69% today.

Your donations also help families when a member is undergoing cancer treatment.

Katrina Beohm is hosting Australia's Biggest Morning Tea this morning between 9am and 12 midday at her real estate office in East Lismore, Katrina Beohm Real Estate at the Wyrallah Road Shopping Centre on Wyrallah Road, East Lismore.

Katrina told the Lismore App, "We are doing it to bring a little joy to the community after Covid and the floods. It is an excellent opportunity for a get-together and to support those suffering and recovering from cancer."

"All are welcome to pop in and have a cuppa. Over the years, we have been part of the cancer council raising money with relay for life, but this is our first biggest morning tea."

This is where your kind donations will be spent:

  • $150 provides transport and a night's stay at a local Cancer Council Lodge for people who need to travel for vital cancer treatment.

  • $510 helps provide training to leaders of cancer support groups so they can offer emotional and practical support to those impacted by cancer.

  • $1000 helps develop a blood test to monitor a patient’s individual response to cancer treatment.

Katrina has pledged to match whatever public donations she receives today so let's get to East Lismore, have a cuppa and dig deep!

9am to 12 midday, Katrin Beohm Real Estate, Wyrallah Road Shopping Centre, East Lismore.
