The rain has continued to fall across Lismore & surrounds overnight with 74.4mm being dumped since 9 am yesterday.
Due to the nature of the coastal trough, some areas have seen a great deal more rain with Nashua recording 180mm and Alstonville 173mm.
This has led to a lot of water over our roads with Live Traffic saying Bangalow Road at Binna Burra (between Richmond Hill Road and Dudgeons Lane) is closed.
Police are advising people to not drive through flooded waters so if in doubt stay at home if you have to travel into Lismore for work today.
The following roads are indicated to have water over them:
The rowing club car park levels are rising in town.
The Bureau of Meteorology has kept its Severe Weather Warning for Heavy Rainfall for the rest of Monday however there has been no Flood Warning yet for the Wilson River.
A strong high-pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea continues to drive widespread and persistent rain onto the New South Wales coast. This is expected to continue today, particularly about the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure trough in the state's west is deepening, bringing rain areas to the northern inland today. In this area, heavy rain is possible from the morning, becoming more likely in the afternoon and evening, and then possibly spread southeast overnight.
Tuesday could see another 40-70mm of rain with clearing weather from Wednesday followed by warm sunny days finally on Thursday and Friday.
