Goonellabah Workers Sports opening bowler Josh Healy produced a solid spell of bowling against Pottsville at Oakes Oval on Saturday.
Goonellabah won the toss and elected to send Pottsville in to bat at Oakes Oval on Saturday.
The decision paid dividends with Reece Gregor and Josh Healy striking early, taking the two openers before the Pottsville middle order steadied.
It was slow going for the Pottsville side, looking to get through Day 1 of the match.
The Goonellabah bowlers were able to take wickets on a regular basis, eventually bowling Pottsville out for 161 in the 69th over.
Healy was the best of the bowlers with 4/20 off 11.5 overs, closely followed by Gregor with 3/48 off 20 overs.
Sam McLean chipped in with 2/30 off 14 overs and Alec Watson took the other wicket, finishing with 1/14 off 10 overs.
This meant Goonellabah needed to see off 3 overs prior to the end of the days play, unfortunately losing Brady Toniello for a duck, finishing on 1/4.
Rory McLean and Tom Standish will resume on Saturday.
The home side will look to chase down the runs next weekend to go into the Christmas break on a high.
