Harry White's handicap is falling almost as quickly as the characters in HBO's Game of Thrones drama.
Harry, who turned 15 last month, represented St John's College Woodlawn at the NSW All Schools Year 7, 8, 9 Jack Newton Shield, played at the Forster Tuncurry Golf Club last Monday and Tuesday.
The Jack Newton Shield is a stroke event played over 36 holes. It With a handicap of nine, Harry played a personal best round of five over par to end the day, three shots behind the leader in fourth spot for the gross event. He was second in the nett event.
His great round meant that Harry, whose coach and mentor is Lismore Workers Golf Club professional Peter Jaeger, played in the final group of four for the second round.
"Harry had three birdies in his first nine holes and was two under after nine holes, which made him the outright leader with nine holes to play," his dad Nathan White told the Lismore App.
"Over the tough last nine holes he managed to post another five over, which again placed him fourth overall in the gross event. Harry's 10-over total meant he was eight under his handicap for the event and had the best nett score to win by three shots."
The result meant that Harry has been selected for the NSW All Schools Squad (three boys and three girls) to play in the Australian Schools 15 Years and Under Championships. He will compete against players from the other State teams in December.

His great two rounds on the North Coast dropped his handicap to seven, which Harry further lowered on his home golf course, Lismore Workers, when he won the A Grade event, part of the Club Championship, with another five over par total (nett score 66).
"His handicap has now dropped to 6.1. Harry has trimmed his handicap from 25 at the start of 2018. It was 12.3 in February this year. It is pretty exciting for him," said his dad.
Peter Jaeger, who coaches Harry once a week, said his course management was a strength.
"Harry's only just turned 15 and there is a bit of work to go but he is street smart about course management, compared to the other kids his age," he told the Lismore App.
"He is starting to fill out a little bit. I have him once a week to ensure he does not fall into any bad habits."
Harry is the leading junior golfer in Lismore Workers Golf Club Championships and is lying in seventh place overall for the nett score after two of the four rounds.
Franklin John-Leader, who has a handicap of 22, is the overall nett leader by p eight shots from Brenton Hare, who has a handicap of 26.
The winner of the Club Championships remains very hard to call. Bob McClelland is leading the Seniors Gross score, but Peter McDade, Chris Haselden, Glen Mansell, Peter Warren and Ray Booker all within three shots with two rounds to go.
