Lismore City Council is temporarily closing Harold Fredericks carpark for upgrades from today (Monday, 20 January 2025), to 11pm on Wednesday, 22 January 2025.
The carpark will reopen as usual on Thursday, 23 January 2025.
Council will be making asphalt repairs to fix surface damage to improve pedestrian, driving and parking conditions, then spraying new line marking to enhance visibility and safety for all users.
The Harold Fredericks carpark was identified by the community as one of the key sites for improvement through the Transport for NSW Safer Cities: Her Way program, which funds initiatives to create safer, more welcoming community spaces for women and girls.
Council says these upgrades go beyond basic infrastructure improvements; they address key factors that contribute to safer, more accessible spaces. Repairs like asphalt resurfacing reduce trip hazards and provide a smoother surface for pedestrians, while fresh line markings enhance visibility and safer movement within the carpark, making it easier and more secure for everyone to navigate the area.
