Goonellabah Workers Sports allrounder Kale Hare has put his side in a commanding position after day one of their match against Alstonville.
Goonellabah won the toss and sent Alstonville in to bat at Hill Park Oval, eventually bowling the home side out for 141 in 52 overs.
GWS used a total of eight bowlers but it was Hare who proved difficult to get away for Alstonville taking 5/17 off 10 overs. Opener Damien Santin was the best of the other bowlers with 2/19 off 13 overs.
In reply, Goonellabah are 2/61 from 28 overs after losing opening brothers Sam (7) and Rory (0) McLean early in the run chase.
The match will conclude next Saturday, with GWS requiring 80 runs for first innings points.
