Goonellabah Workers Sports Reece Gregor destroyed the Cudgen batting lineup, taking 7/31 off 15 overs in their clash at Oakes Oval.
After posting a first innings total of 178, Goonellabah needed quick and consistent wickets on Saturday, and that is what Gregor was able to provide.
Josh Healy chipped in with 2/29 off 10 overs, rolling Cudgen for 125.
GWS then set out to post a total that would entice Cudgen to take some risks in the second innings, with the home side declaring at 7/109.
Openers Sam McLean (21) and Andrew Kemmis (26) scored quickly before Brady Toniello added 20 before the declaration.
Cudgen then had 23 overs to reach the target of 163, with Goonellabah hoping they would play some loose shots.
In a tight finish, Cudgen fell just 4 runs short with 5/158, giving Goonellabah the first innings points.
Kale Hare was the best of the bowlers with 2/24 off 5 overs.
Goonellabah Workers Sports will travel to Ballina to take on the Bears next Saturday and Sunday.
