On a Sunday, not long from now, residents from Lismore and Casino will be able to enjoy the nearly 30km of bike track between Lismore and Casino after the completion of the Lismore to Bentley leg of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail.

This week, Lismore City Council provided an update on the construction, which they say is "moving ahead despite recent wet weather."

The completion of the entire gravel trail surface for the Lismore to Bentley section marks a significant milestone.

Construction crews have shifted their focus to bridges and road crossings, commencing work on the bridge at Bungabee. Progress on groundwork and drainage is also continuing.

Council is working on the development of interpretive signage along the track and is appealing to the community to share any cultural or historical information and photographs that may be relevant to the Lismore to Bentley section.

Last week, Council held two briefing sessions with local businesses, landowners and community members to provide updates on the Rail Trail project and to share business opportunities linked to it.

The figures continuing to come out of the Tweed section further demonstrate the significant economic benefits of the Rail Trail, with nearly 3000 visitors per week experiencing its offerings.
