The Goonellabah Workers Sports LJ Hooker Cricket side are through to the Final after a massive Semi Final victory over Tweed Banora Colts.

Goonellabah won the toss and elected to bat in hot and humid conditions at Oakes Oval on Saturday.

In what has been a theme across the entire LJ Hooker League season, it was a true team effort that saw the home side move through to their second consecutive Final.

Young opener Rory McLean top scored with 80 and was solid throughout the day, showing experience beyond his years.

He was joined by Kale Hare, who added 59, Damien Santin posted 65 and Brady Toniello scored 41 in quick time.

It allowed GWS to post a very impressive total of 334 off 94 overs, which was going to be a tough chase for the Tweed side.

Both teams returned on Sunday for the Goonellabah bowlers to have their time to shine and that's just what they did.

The tight bowling and consistent fall of wickets saw just three Colts batsman reach double figures.

Goonellabah eventually bowled Tweed out for just 91, completing a 243 run victory and progressing into the Final where they will play Cudgen, who defeated Pottsville.

Josh Healy opened the bowling and took 2/24, Alec Watson took 2/13 off his 7 overs, Kale Hare was impressive with 2/10 off 5.3 and Riley Gregor (1/22) and Kaleb Armstrong (1/17) also finished with wickets as well.

GWS Coach Graeme Armstrong was happy with his side, "It was a complete performance, something that we have been working towards all season."

"Everyone executed their plans perfectly with both bat and ball."

"The key batting partnership between Kaleb and Rory, sustaining a fantastic bowling spell positioned the team in a strong position to build a good total."

"The bowling group bowled to their plans perfectly in a very satisfying team performance."

Goonellabah will host the Final next weekend at Oakes Oval and will look to seek revenge after Cudgen defeated them in the 2021/2022 season finale.
