Goonellabah Workers Sports are through to the LJ Hooker League T/20 Semi Finals after splitting their games in Round 5 and 6 on Saturday.
GWS took on ladder leaders Cudgen in the first match and won the toss and put Cudgen into bat, posting 5/124 at Oakes Oval.
For the bowlers, Reece Gregor took 2/27 and Barry Franks 2/21 off their allotted 4 overs.
In reply, Goonellabah struggled to maintain partnerships throughout the innings and posted 7/88.
In the second match of the day, the side took on Alstonville, who won the toss and sent the home side in to bat.
GWS posted a strong 8/132, with openers Nathan Bezrouchko (36) and Rory McLean (32) starting the innings strongly and eventually posted a total of 8/132.
Alstonville fell agonisingly short in their run chase, finishing with 8/130, with Franks taking wickets again with 2/27 and Damien Santin with 2/25.
With other results still to be confirmed, it is uncertain who Goonellabah will take on in the Semi Finals next Saturday.
