Goonellabah Workers Sports have dominated their match against Lennox Head in the LJ Hooker League on Saturday.

Goonellabah won the toss and elected to bat, posting 7/216 off their 40 overs.

Opener Sam McLean fell agonisingly close to a milestone, falling for 49. Alec Watson top scored with 67 coming in at number six and Brady Toniello added 21 in the closing overs.

GWS then put the pressure on Lennox Head with the ball, taking consistent wickets, eventually bowling them out for 123 in the final over of the match.

Josh Healy claimed 2/18 off five overs, Kale Hare 2/14 off six overs and Sam McLean completed a strong match, taking 3/26 off eight overs to complete the 93 run victory.

Goonellabah will travel to Alstonville next week in Round 2.
