Gold Rats turn it around and Lismore head west

The SCU Gold Rats have turned around a huge loss last weekend to match it with the Casino Bulls on Friday night.

The Gold Rats came up against competition heavyweights Wollongbar Alstonville last weekend and the Pioneers showed no compassion for a depleted SCU, winning 119-0.

The Gold Rats had just 6 days to turn it around, with a scheduled Friday night match at home against Casino.

Without club stalwart Matt Anderson, who suffered a knee injury in last weeks loss, the Gold Rats but together a strong side for the clash, with a number of players no doubt heading north to watch the Wallabies take on South Africa on Saturday afternoon.

Although going down 29-7, it wasn't until the last 20 minutes of the match that the Bulls gained any ascendency on the scoreboard.

Zack Byrne crossed for the Rats only try, which was converted by Oscar Galloway.

Lismore will head over the range to Mallanganee to take on Richmond Range at Don Guley Oval.

Range sit just 3 positions ahead of the Greens on the competition ladder and have added gun halfback Vincent Quigley to the lineup who started the season with Mullumbimby.

Lismore have made a number of changes to the side which went down to Evans River last weekend, with Andrew Clark moving from the wing to No. 8, Cody Johnston returns at inside centre and tall youngster Cohen Cartwright has been added to the wing.

The match will kick off at 3:15pm, with Reserve Grade taking on Kyogle at 1:50pm and Colts tackling Yamba at 12:30pm.
