The Gold Coast Titans have had a strong hit out at Crozier Oval ahead of the opening round of the NRL season.

The Titans were in Lismore for a Gold Coast Titans Fan Day, which also assisted the Marist Brothers Rams Junior sign-on.

On Friday night, the team and staff enjoyed a meet and greet and Q&A session at the Northern Rivers Hotel before a solid training session against the Tweed Heads Seagulls on Saturday morning for the 40+ players in the extended squad, before an opposed session against the Queensland Cup side, the Tweed Seagulls.

The Titans were at full strength, with plenty of stars on show.

State of Origin star Tino Fa'asuamaleaui led from the front in a squad that included Moeaki Fotuaika, Beau Fermor, new recruit Lachlan Ilias, Jayden Campbell and AJ Brimson.

Locals Zane Harrison, Jaylan De Groot and Josh Patston were also given plenty of opportunity to shine.

Patston was fairly comfortable in the surroundings, having played junior and senior football with the Marist Brothers Rams.

The opposed session with the Seagulls was fairly even in the first 20 mins before the Titans finally managed to break the Tweed defence.

The Titans' coaching staff then worked on several attacking scenarios within the 30m zone before another full-field game.

The session finished up with the Seagulls working on their attack and the Titans on their goal-line defence.

The 2-hour session finished with a punishing fitness session for the Titans, while the Seagulls made the most of the cool showers.

Backrower Josh Patston was this week named in the Indigenous All Stars squad to travel to New Zealand to take on the Maori All Stars next weekend.

He was happy with how the session went and was looking forward to the season ahead.

"It was a really good hit out for the boys, and it was great to play against a different opposition as well."

"There are a few of us battling it out for one backrow spot, so we are all working hard, and we will see who gets the starting spot for Round 1."

"It was good to get back to Lismore and show the boys around, so they could see what the town has gone through with the floods in recent years."

"I believe Marist Brothers have signed up over 200 junior players this morning, so it's great to see so much interest in junior footy locally."

Asked about his selection in the Indigenous All Stars team, Patston was very proud to be selected.

"I am really excited and proud to represent my culture and my family in such an important game."

"I go into camp on Monday, we fly to Sydney and do some media on Tuesday and then fly to New Zealand to train and prepare for the match next weekend. We are over there for around 6 days and I am really looking forward to the experience."

The day was a big success, with a large crowd watching before a popular signing session after the session concluded.
