The Elders Back Lismore Show kicked off yesterday at the Lismore showgrounds.
Day 1 was warm and there was a good atmosphere. A large portion of attendees today consisted of school groups, which made for a loud crowd when the monster trucks came out! The Tassy Devil Truck took one lucky child, Sissy, for a spin, who remarked that she was terrified but that it was also “so much fun!”
There were a lot of families attending today with plenty of attractions for kids. Amazing Animals petting farm, The Great Lego Building Challenge, Shimano Australia Fishing Show with Dave ‘Mossy’ Moss, Steve McEwans Reptile World and The Ashton Circus all ran regular shows throughout the day in addition to the rides and sideshow games.
Emma and Amanda, from Casino, were exploring the show with several children each in tow, and told the Lismore App that they had both pulled their kids from school for the day to come to the show. “We’re making good memories,” Amanda said. “Now we just have to wear out their sugar high!”
Sienna and Emma, teenagers who have come to the show since they were small children, remembered the rides being larger and with more attractions. But for the younger ones who are experiencing the show for the first time, it was all glowing reviews. Many were agog over the giant rooster in the poultry show, who is definitely worth a visit.
Cruz, 12, said that the monster trucks were the highlight of his day at the show, closely followed by the fishing demo, where he won a cap. “Everyone should come (to the show), it’s awesome!”
The program for Day 2 is more of the above, with Woodchopping making its first appearance at 1pm, the Far North Coast Group One Beef Cattle Junior Judging at 4pm and the Back Lismore Community Parade at 6pm followed by all three monster trucks, Motor X and Jetpacks, the Fireworks Spectacular at 8pm and live music from Aussie icons Tex Perkins (Cruel Sea) and Matt Walker.
