Defending holders and Minor Premiers Bundjalarms and rivals Daleys were in a thrilling Far North Coast Netball Division 1 Grand Final on Marie Mackney Courts, Albert Park yesterday afternoon.

Daleys were considered the underdogs to the Bundjalarms, who had beaten Daleys three out of four times this season, but delivered a remarkable come back to reclaim the Major Premiership title in extra time. 

The game started at a fast pace and with hot weather it appeared it would be a battle of the fitness and strategies of the two respective coaches on how they managed their players. It was an even first quarter going goal for goal. The second quarter Bundjalarms appeared to have the game well and truly under control taking a nine goal lead.

The second half was a different story as Daleys 'never say die attitude' and belief in each other clawed them back into contention to even the scoreline at the full time hooter. 

The game went into extra time consisting of two five minute halves with no break in between and no changes could be made. In extra time Daleys looked fresh and ready to show the large crowd what they were made of with pure domination keeping Bundjalarms scoreless for the next 10 minutes.

Daleys, coached by Toni McRae, won the match by 11 goals, 37-26.

"As a club, Daleys had a super day out, where they contested six Grand Finals and were winners in five. In the four Grand Finals where a player of the final is awarded, a Daleys player was rewarded for their best and fairest play of the game," said Daleys President Kylie Davis.

"The club is grateful to all members, whether player, coach, umpire or helper. All were equally recognised by Far North Coast Netball Association with a number of encouragement awards.
