Flooding no longer expected for Wilsons RiverOrion Street near Simes Bridge in March

Some positive news for residents of the Northern Rivers with the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) announcing there is no longer a minor flood watch for the Wilsons and Richmond River.

Rainfall has eased in the Northern Rivers since Friday evening with Nimbin receiving 44mm in the last two days, 19mm yesterday. Due to rain gauge damage, Lismore has no official total.

The forecast is for more showers over the next three days with 4mm to15mm expected tomorrow and 10-25mm on Monday before easing again to a few mm each day as the La Nina weather pattern continues.

On May 12, the BOM released their winter weather forecast with June to August expected to be above the median rainfall, the likelihood is 65%.

On top of that, it will be a cooler than normal winter with a 30% chance of exceeding the median maximum temperature.

The Bureau is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue further catchment specific warnings if and when required.
