Fifth man charged with alleged looting at Taree

A man has been charged over allegedly being in possession of stolen items on the flood-affected Mid North Coast.


About 1:50am today (Saturday, 31 May 2025), officers attached to the Manning/Great Lakes Police District were conducting proactive patrols when they stopped a man in Stevenson Street, Taree.


A search of the man’s bags allegedly revealed several items suspected of being stolen, including a television, vacuum cleaner, assorted electrical items, and jewellery. Police will allege he was also in possession of methylamphetamine.


The 45-year-old man was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station, where he was charged with goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, possess housebreaking implements, and two counts of drug possession.


He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday, 31 May 2025), via AVL, where he was granted bail to appear at Taree Local Court on Tuesday, 17 June 2025.
