A woman has died following a single-vehicle crash in the early hours of Friday morning just south of the St Helena tunnel, today.
About 2.20am (Friday 13 June 2025), emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, McLeods Shoot, following reports a car had left the road and crashed into a sign.
On arrival, officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District located the body of a woman inside the vehicle.
While yet to be formally identified, the woman is believed to be aged in her 60s.
Police have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
M1 traffic was affected for northbound and southbound vehicles, with one lane closed. It was reopened to traffic at 9:36am.
