On the 17th April, the Lismore App ran a story about local businesses being asked to feed hungry essential workers at Lismore Base Hospital due to the closure of the hospital café (Hungry workers at hospital call out for food deliveries).

That call was answered yesterday when nine Lismore businesses put together over 400 food packs to feed and refresh our essential services from Lismore Base Hospital and St Vincents Hospital.

From 6am Sunday morning Sally Sullivan, Ernie Angelosanto, Tony Palati, Tamaya Rose and Malcolm & Susan Bruce packed and manned the Amici Italian Food Van handing out fresh coffee and food to nurses, doctors, policemen, paramedics and even a run out to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew.

Workers walked away with treat bags containing a mix of fruit, chocolate brownies, grapes, bottle of water and cheese & biscuits.

Sally Sullivan said "we just wanted to say thank you to the frontliners".

What was the response?

"They were all overwhelmed and really, really happy", Sally said, "they could not thank us enough".

From the Lismore community a big thank you to these nine businesses.

It is in times like these that our care and respect for all frontline workers is demonstrated not just in words but in deeds.
