Tom Molloy, all of 11 years of age, has been playing golf at Lismore Workers Golf Club every day to play the sport he loves and to escape the social lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
He had already hit a hole-in-one on the 5th hole at the Lismore Workers Golf Club course in December last year and idolises Australian golfer Jason Day, the former world #1 ranked golfer.
Tom, who will go back to St Carthage's Primary School tomorrow, was playing a round of golf on his own when he reached the par three, 16th hole, on Tuesday afternoon.
Tom took out his six iron and played a beautiful shot off the tee. He watched it hit the green and roll into the hole.
As his dad Phil had told him many times, that if he achieved something like a hole in one playing on his own, it had to be witnessed.
Tom looked around and saw Scott Williams on the tee of the 17th hole.
Tom ran as fast as he could and called out to Scott "did you see my hole-in-hole?"
Scott was only too pleased to tell Tom that he saw the ball go down the hole and congratulated him on a great shot. Scott said he would notify the club professional Peter Jaeger at the clubhouse of what had happened.
"I have always told the boys that it would not count unless it was verified. I was so pleased for Tom as he was not happy missing the club competition tomorrow as he has to go back to school," said his dad Phil.
Tom has a handicap of 20 and to achieve two holes-in-one on the course by the age of 11 is some feat.
An unbelievable 136 players competed for the single stableford event last Thursday, which was won by Chris Slade (42) with the runner-up being Chris Macris (41), Greg Bolt (40) finished third, Peter McDade (38) fourth and William Kelvin (37 c/b) fifth.
Chris peaked too early as his company Chris Slade Painting sponsored the 4BBB stableford, with a single event in conjunction, on Saturday that attracted a never-before seen total of 206 players.
Chris Barbary and Charlie Hew (49) won the 4BBB, with Robert Farmer and Bob Rose (48 c/b) second, with Jade Magner and Greg Huxtable (48) third. Jacob Ben-Porat and Franklin John-Leader (47 c/b) finished fourth, Ed Laws and Stephen Lacey (47) fifth and Garry Barnett and Phil Stephens (47) sixth.
Khan Johnson (40) won the single event in A Grade, Sergio Zanuso (41) won B Grade and Andrew Munroe (41) C Grade.
