A social media post last night about a missing elderly man missing from his Caroona nursing home in Goonellabah has ended well.
Ian went missing from Caroona early yesterday afternoon and the call went out for people to be on the lookout for him in Goonellabah or downtown Lismore.
A call was made to Richmond Police District who put out a call to the NSW SES Lismore Unit to help with a search just after 9 o'clock last night.
The Lismore unit said over 20 volunteers attended, searching dense bushland in Goonellabah and surrounding streets. "Two members heard rustling and faint calls, and made contact with the missing person," the SES Facebook page said.
"The entire team then assembled and carried the patient up a very steep incline to NSW Ambulance paramedics."
"For some members, this was the first time they'd put on the uniform since joining this year. An excellent turnout and very positive outcome."
The Lismore SES unit only had their first night back at training for the year on Monday doing maintenance checks, inducting new members, congratulating members who completed their probation, assembling replacement equipment and ensuring all their boats and vehicles are ready for service.
