With a dry and partly cloudy weekend ahead, for those that have not been affected by the flood there is some good news as Lismore City Council announced the reopening of the Recycling & Recovery Centre in East Lismore to the public for NON-flood affected waste only.
Yesterday's small fire from flood-affected mattresses has not impacted the centre so it will be open at 7am.
The Nimbin Transfer Station has also re-opened with usual hours.
A spokesperson said, "It is important that the two streams of waste – non-flood affected and flood-affected– are kept separate. We ask those with flood-affected waste to continue to place it on the kerb for collection by the Public Works Advisory or use the free skip bins in Union Street and the corner of Magellan Street & Diadem Street."
"The NSW Government’s EPA fee exemption for flood-affected wastes does not apply to non-flood affected waste. This means normal weighbridge fees will be charged. The Earn and Return Bulk Drop Off has also reopened to regular hours, as has the Lismore Revolve Shop."
"To assist with the second round of flood waste collection, we ask businesses and property owners who still have flood waste that needs to be collected to contact Council on 6625 0500."
"The Centre has been closed to the public since the flood to allow for flood damage repairs and assist with early flood clean up coordinated by the Public Works Advisory."
"Council thanks the community for its patience as we continue with flood damage repair and the Clean Up."
Operating hours are as normal:
