Early wickets are the key in Hooker League

Early wickets will be the key for both Lismore based LJ Hooker League teams this weekend.

Marist Brothers amassed 9/297 declared against Lennox Head last Saturday and will resume hoping for quick wickets with Lennox Head currently 0/54.

The Megan Crescent ground is hard and fast and the Brothers bowlers will need to be on the spot early to force mistakes and put pressure on the top order.

Brothers will be looking to veteran Brendan Mitchell, Joe Allan, Jordan Salkeld and Hamish Weekes early before the spin of Tom Parsons hopefully making the difference.

Goonellabah Workers Sports will be in a similar situation with quick early wickets the key.

Goonellabah posted 178 at Oakes Oval last week against Cudgen, who are 1/15 in reply after Reece Gregor struck in the last over of the day.

Cudgen have the ability to score quickly and the GWS bowlers will be looking to upset partnerships early.

The Goonellabah attack has been fairly economical in recent weeks and will look to opener Damian Santin, Josh Healy, Kaleb Armstrong, Kale Hare and Gregor all to snare early wickets.

Both matches resume on Saturday at 1:00pm.
