A driver has been charged after a motorcycle rider was critically injured following a crash in Dunoon yesterday.
Emergency services were called to James Street, Dunoon, north of Lismore, about 4.30pm yesterday (Thursday 3 November 2022), after reports a Subaru Forrester and a Kawasaki Motorcycle had collided.
The rider, a 50-year-old man, was ejected and members of the public performed CPR until the arrival of paramedics.
The man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment. He remains in a critical condition.
Officers from Richmond Police District attended along with the Far North Coast Crash Investigation Unit.
The Subaru driver, a 26-year-old man was subjected to a roadside breath test, returning a positive result.
He was arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.051.
During a search, officers located cannabis in the man’s possession. He was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
The man was returned to Lismore Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, drive with low range PCA, negligent driving - occasions grievous bodily harm, make U-turn without giving way to vehicle/pedestrian, and possess prohibited drug.
His licence was also suspended.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Lismore Local Court on Monday 5 December 2022.
