Motorists on their daily commute through the rainforest end of Rous Road will have noticed another burnt out vehicle Monday morning opposite the cemetery.

Neighbouring residents reported seeing the latest blaze and hearing the firetrucks as images and comments appeared on social media. One image shows the station wagon engulfed in flames and emitting plumes of dark smoke.

The vehicle is the second to be abandoned and burned on this same spot, the first one having just been removed a few days ago after sitting for weeks at the site.

Spokesperson for the Goonellabah Fire Station told the Lismore App today that they received the call just after 6am Monday morning. Four crew members attended and the fire was contained and duty ceased one hour later at 7am.

The spokesperson also said that the incident was reported to the police and it has been deemed suspicious.

The Lismore App is awaiting further information from Richmond District Police.
