Summer is just around the corner when cricket returns to Lismore and the Far North Coast this weekend.

A massive weekend of T/20 action is planned for the Hooker League clubs, with four rounds of the competition to be played across Saturday and Sunday.

Goonellabah Workers Sports and Marist Brothers commence the season at 9am on Saturday at Oakes Oval with both sides looking to gain an early advantage in the short form of the game.

Both sides will not be at full strength or fitness after just a few weeks in the nets after the winter sports season concluded.

A number of players will be underdone, with no baseball throughout winter to hold general skill and fitness for many.

Marist Brothers will then clash with the Casino RSM Cavaliers at 12:15pm before Goonellabah Workers Sports takes on the Cavaliers at 3:30pm.

On Sunday, both sides travel to Murwillumbah with Brothers taking on Murwillumbah and Goonellabah Workers Sports taking on Lennox Head at 10am before backing up for the fourth match of the weekend at 1:30pm when GWS take on Murwillumbah and Brothers take on Lennox Head.

Lismore District Cricket also commences on Saturday with First Grade matches between Marist Brothers and Casino and Lismore Workers taking on Norths. Second Grade matches will be played between Evans Head and Marist Brothers and Casino and Lismore Workers.

With solid numbers, eight sides will clash in Third Grade and six teams will make up Fourth Grade for the 2022/2023 season.
