With a big improvement in the weather, Lismore City Council's road crews have taken advantage of the favourable conditions to get back to the number one issue in Lismore, fixing our roads.
Since the 28 February natural disaster and March flood, we have had an extended period of wet weather which, as we know, has taken a huge toll on our road network. In fact, it rained three out of four days between 21 November 2021 and April 2022.
This resulted in 90% of our 1200km road network suffering extensive damage, with an estimate of $150-200 million to rebuild and repair.
Over the following weeks, council will be providing more detailed updates on the specific flood-related damage to our road network, Council’s geotechnical investigations and next steps for repair, completed works since the flooding and how you can report damaged roads to Council.
Council will also provide a new weekly update on major road repairs.
This week's pothole repair program includes:
• Magellan Street
• Simons Avenue
• Alexander Parade
• Winterton Parade
• Robson Road
• Tucki Tucki Road
• Coraki Road
• Wyrallah Ferry Road
• The Channon Road
• James Gibson Road
• Hunters Hill Road
• Wyrallah Road
In a welcome addition, you can report any new potholes or damaged surfaces to ensure our road maintenance crews can assess the damage and schedule repair.
There are two methods to report damage to a road:
- Council’s Report a Problem online form at https://ecouncil.lismore.nsw.gov.au/eservice/start.do?nodeNum=148589&nodeNum=148589
- Call our Contact Centre on 6625 0500
