Council closes riverside carparks at 6pm and asks for all cars to be removed

With the Wilson River set to peak at 8.2m at 2am Wednesday morning and the water already near the car parks on Molesworth Street, Lismore City Council has asked everyone to remove their cars from CBD car parks tonight.

Council is shutting all CBD carparks on the river side of the CBD from 6pm today.

"Do not leave cars overnight as we may not open these carparks tomorrow," a council spokesperson said.

Rollerworld on Bridge Street, North Lismore has evacuated their business and houses on the riverside of North Lismore may get some minor flooding as the river reaches its peak.

The rain is forecast to make a return in the early hours of Wednesday morning with 20-30mm predicted from the Bureau of Meteorology for the day and 4-10mm on Thursday.
