Council closes Lismore Skatepark for safety reasons

Lismore City Council has announced the closure of the Lismore Skatepark on Victoria Street due to its deteriorating condition and safety concerns for the public.

LCC said a recent assessment of the park has revealed its poor condition, posing a risk to the community. Temporary fencing has been installed around the site to restrict access.

Meanwhile, skateboarders, BMX riders, rollerblades, rock climbers or anyone interested in contributing to the design of the new Lismore Skatepark and Youth Precinct are encouraged to participate in a community workshop that is being held this afternoon at the Lismore PCYC:

  • First session from 4pm to 5.30pm
  • Second session from 6pm to 7.30pm

The new skatepark and youth precinct is currently in the design phase and will be created by CONVIC, a renowned company known for creating award-winning skateparks and community spaces worldwide.

The 2300sqm park will be built next to Oakes Oval between Dawson and Uralba streets, linking the CBD block to Lismore Shopping Square.

All ages from 13+ are encouraged to attend the upcoming workshop. Attendees under 18 will require parental supervision.

Light refreshments will be provided, so your registration is appreciated.

To register, visit the Lismore Skatepark and Youth Precinct page at https://yoursay.lismore.nsw.gov.au/lismore-skatepark-and... or call Council on (02) 6625 0500.
