In a turn for the unusual, the numbers of coronavirus cases dropped in our local health district.
The news comes on the same day as the NSW Premier announced visiting restrictions in NSW will not be eased in time for Mother’s Day. Read more: No easing of restrictions in time for Mother's Day
The Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) reported that there are now 55 (not 56) confirmed cases of Covid-19 in local residents.
The reason given in the reduction of one case was that the case was excluded after further testing.
It has now been three weeks since the last recorded case.
Of these 55 cases, 46 are now recovered. One Covid-19 patient is being cared for in hospital, none in ICU.
By source of infection, 52 acquired it from overseas or interstate, 2 from a confirmed case or in a known cluster and 1 was not identified.

There are also expanded hours for Byron Central Hospital fever clinic, due to high demand for testing.
Opening hours are 9am to 5pm daily. There is no need to make an appointment.
Anyone with flu-like symptoms, however mild, is encouraged to get tested for Covid- 19.
Other hospital-based testing clinics are located at Lismore Base Hospital, The Tweed Hospital, and Grafton Base Hospital.
