Jack Cooper has starred in a huge opening round win for Goonellabah Workers Sports in LJ Hooker League on Saturday.
Jack and his brother Ben were the stars of the show in the 9-wicket victory over Tintenbar East Ballina.
Goonellabah won the toss and elected to bowl at Kingsford Smith Oval and it proved to be a good decision.
Michael German struck early, taking the wickets of both openers in his first four overs.
The GWS bowlers then took consistent wickets to have Tintenbar all out for 91 in the 29th over.
Ben Cooper was the best of the bowlers with 4/16 off his 8 overs, German finished with 2/25 off 4 overs and Alec Watson took 2/10 off 8 overs.
Chasing just 91, Goonellabah attacked from the outset, opening with the Cooper brothers, Ben falling for 19 off 10 balls including 4 fours.
But it was Jack who was the star of the show, with an unbeaten 73 off just 22 balls, including 5 massive sixes and 8 fours.
It led to an early finish for both sides, with the Goonellabah Workers Sports side passing the total in just the 6th over, finishing with 1/93.
GWS are back at home next weekend when they host Alstonville at Mortimer Oval.
