Clunes school welcomes new accessible playground MP Kevin Hogan officially opens the new play area with Clunes school children.

A new play area at Clunes Public School has brought a new world to students in wheelchairs.

Not only is the play area accessible to students in wheelchairs, it is sheltered from the weather, has soft fall rubber on the ground and includes low level climbing and play equipment for the students.

The play area project was funded with $15,000 from the Federal Government Local Schools Community Fund.

This week, Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan joined school students to officially open the play area.

“This is a fantastic new facility that will be used by the whole community,” Mr Hogan said.

“These upgrades mean the playground is now safe, durable and suitable for all students at the school.”

Clunes Public School Principal Michelle Slee was excited to see the playground opened today.

“This is an inclusive playground that all students of age and ability can use together,” Mrs Slee said.

The Local Schools Community Fund was open to all schools. For future rounds, visit https://schools.education.gov.au/ to apply.
